Know the Warning Signs of Problem Gambling

Problem gambling doesn’t start with losing everything. It usually starts small, a few extra bets after a bad day, chasing a loss you’re sure you can recover, skipping something important because you’re in the middle of a session. By the time it’s obvious, it’s already been going on for a while.

The signs below aren’t meant to make you feel bad. They’re just honest markers that something has shifted from entertainment to something harder to control. If a few of these sound familiar, that’s worth paying attention to.

Quick Self-Check

Go through these honestly. No one else sees your answers.

1
Do you bet more than you planned to, or stay longer than you intended?
2
Have you ever borrowed money or used bill money to fund your bets?
3
Do you feel restless or irritable when you try to cut back or stop?
4
Do you find yourself chasing losses, betting more to try and win back what you lost?
5
Have you hidden your gambling from family or lied about how much you’ve spent?

If you answered yes to two or more of these, it’s worth using the limit tools below or reaching out to a support line. Answering yes doesn’t mean you have a serious problem, but it does mean the habit is worth looking at more closely.

Betting With Money You Can’t Afford

Using rent, grocery, or load money to fund bets. If losing that amount would cause a real problem in your life, it’s too much to bet with.

Chasing Losses

Placing bigger bets to recover what you already lost. This is one of the most common patterns and it almost always makes things worse, not better.

Losing Track of Time

Sessions that were supposed to be 30 minutes turning into 3 hours without noticing. Missing meals, sleep, or work because you were in the middle of a game.

Hiding It From People Close to You

Lying about how much you’ve spent or how long you’ve been playing. If you feel like you need to hide it, that’s usually a sign something is off.

Gambling to Escape Problems

Using betting as a way to deal with stress, anxiety, or personal issues. When gambling becomes a coping mechanism, it stops being entertainment pretty quickly.

Irritability When Not Playing

Feeling restless, anxious, or on edge when you can’t access your account or when you try to take a break. This kind of withdrawal feeling is worth taking seriously.

Healthy Gambling

  • You set a budget before you start and stop when it’s gone
  • Losing doesn’t ruin your mood for the rest of the day
  • You can take a break or stop without feeling anxious
  • Betting is entertainment, not a source of income

Problem Gambling

  • You keep going past your budget, telling yourself you’ll stop soon
  • A loss triggers more bets to try and recover it
  • You feel guilty or anxious after sessions but keep going back
  • Betting feels like the only way to fix financial stress

Tools to Control Your Play on OKPlay

These tools are built into your account and available to use anytime. You don’t need to explain yourself to anyone or wait for approval. If you feel like you need a limit or a break, you can set it yourself in a few taps.

Deposit Limit

Set a daily, weekly, or monthly cap on how much you can deposit in Peso. Once the limit is hit, no more deposits go through until the period resets. Lowering the limit takes effect immediately. Raising it has a 24-hour cooling period.

Session Time Limit

Set a maximum session length, like 1 or 2 hours, and the system will log you out automatically when time is up. Good for players who lose track of time once they’re in a game.

Cooling-Off Period

Take a break from 1 day up to 6 weeks. Your account stays open but you can’t log in or place bets during the cooling-off window. Useful if you’ve had a rough run and need to step back for a bit.

Self-Exclusion

If you need a longer break, self-exclusion closes your account for a minimum of 6 months. During this period, OKPlay will also block any new registration attempts from the same details. Contact support to activate this.

How to Activate These Tools

1

Log in to your OKPlay account and go to Account Settings.

2

Find the “Responsible Gaming” section in the menu.

3

Choose the tool you want, set your preferred limit or duration, and confirm. Changes to deposit limits and session timers take effect immediately.

4

For self-exclusion, contact live chat support directly. The team will process it within a few minutes.

OKPlay operates under a PAGCOR license, which means responsible gaming isn’t optional for us. We’re required to provide player protection tools, enforce the 21+ age rule, and cooperate with PAGCOR’s self-exclusion registry.

  • We do not market to players who have self-excluded or requested a cooling-off period
  • Our support team is trained to recognize signs of problem gambling and refer players to help
  • We report to PAGCOR’s national self-exclusion database to prevent excluded players from registering on other licensed platforms

Protecting Minors

OKPlay is strictly for players aged 21 and above. Anyone found to be under 21 will have their account closed immediately and any remaining balance will be forfeited, as required under PAGCOR rules.

If you share a device with younger family members, we recommend using your phone’s built-in screen time or app lock features to prevent access to the OKPlay app. Do not share your login credentials with anyone, including family members who are under age.
